This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use in the Bestio online store, what they are for and how you can manage your consent. The store operator and controller of personal data is Bestio Group s.r.o., ID: 24878553, with its registered office at Ohrazenice 160, 262 23 Ohrazenice, Czech Republic. How we process personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. The browser’s local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) works in a similar way. They let the website remember, for example, the contents of your cart, the selected language or your choice in the cookie banner.

Which cookies we use

Essential cookies – the website, cart and checkout do not work without them, so we store them without your consent:

  • Shopify platform cookies for the cart, currency and country, customer account login, security and storing your choice in the cookie banner,
  • the bestio_checkout cookie of our checkout, which holds the order in progress (valid for 60 minutes, extended while you work in the checkout),
  • data in the browser storage that the checkout keeps only until you close the window or tab (chosen shipping, payment and pick‑up point, delivery details being filled in, confirmation of the submitted order and the return to the checkout after signing in), and for as long a mark of a submitted complaint or withdrawal form so that it is not sent twice,
  • short-lived copies of the shipping and payment options and of the market’s support contact from our checkout, so that they are not loaded again on every page while you browse the store (the bestio:delivery-options:v1:* and bestio:market-settings:v1:* entries in the browser storage for 5 minutes, at most until you close the window or tab; no personal data),
  • on the purchase review page, the code from the link in the review request e-mail (the bestio-review-invitation entry until you close the window or tab), so that the page still knows after a reload which purchase the review belongs to; the code is removed from the page address as soon as the page loads,
  • for a purchase without signing in, the last chosen shipping method and pick‑up point, so that the checkout fills them in next time (the bestio_checkout_last_delivery entry in the browser storage for 90 days; only the market, the shipping method and the public details of the pick‑up point, none of your personal data); for a signed‑in customer the checkout takes them from the account,
  • online payments in progress and orders whose goods have already left the cart, so that paid goods do not reappear in the cart (the bestio_checkout_pending_payments entry – at most 5 payments with the ordered goods for 24 hours – and bestio_checkout_cleared_orders – the identifiers of the last 20 such orders; in the browser storage until you delete them),
  • choices you make on the website yourself, for example the product list view, product comparison, recently viewed products or an applied discount code.

Analytics cookies – only with your consent. They help us understand how you use the website and improve it:

  • Google Analytics 4 loaded via Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited): cookies _ga and _ga_* valid for up to 2 years. We measure page and product views, adding to cart, starting an order and completed purchases (items and order value, without your name, address or e-mail).
  • Shopify platform analytics cookies that measure store traffic.

Marketing cookies – only with your consent. We do not currently use third‑party advertising or remarketing tools. If we introduce them in the future, they will load only with your consent and we will add them to this policy.

Google Consent Mode

Google Tag Manager is loaded from Google’s servers on every page except the purchase review page, so Google sees your IP address. Until you give consent, it runs in denied‑consent mode (Google Consent Mode v2): Google Analytics neither stores nor reads cookies and does not assign you an identifier. Even without consent, however, Google receives cookieless signals about page views and e-shop events (product view, adding to cart, starting an order and a completed purchase with the order number, items and value) and uses them to model aggregate statistics. We do not send your name, address or e-mail to Google. To avoid counting a purchase twice, the website notes in the browser storage which purchases have already been measured (bestio_analytics_* entries).

Third‑party services at checkout

When you choose delivery to a pick‑up point at checkout, your browser loads the pick‑up point map directly from the chosen carrier’s servers (DPD or GLS), or a preview map from OpenStreetMap or Google Maps. These services see your IP address and may use their own cookies under their own policies.

How to manage consent

On your first visit we show a cookie banner in which you can give, refuse or set consent by category. Refusing does not affect your ability to shop. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time with the “Cookie settings” button in the footer of the website. If you delete this website’s cookies and data in your browser settings, your choice and the entries in the browser storage are cleared as well and the cookie banner will be shown again on your next visit. You can also restrict cookies in general in your browser; without essential cookies, however, the cart and checkout will not work.

Transfers outside the EU

Google and Shopify may process cookie data outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the USA. Such transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Details are available in the policies of Google and Shopify.
